UPDATE DURING THE CORONAVIRUS

It has been a while since you heard from me. The Coronavirus has changed my life like everyone else’s’. I will say, however, I finally got my income tax filed, my absentee ballot sent and the census form fille out so that is all good.

I pray that all of you have been keeping safe and well during this turbulent time. I want to thank all the people who are working so hard all around the world risking their lives for others. This includes first responders, medical people, grocery store workers, restaurant and carry out people, truck drivers, people picking up our garbage and delivering our mail and on and on and on. Thank you!

Sita and Cesar are doing OK. Cesar scared me when he became very ill and hid under my bed for hours. AS you know when an animal hides they are sick. I got him to the veterinarian when I noticed his eye was all filmy. Here he has high blood pressure, which happens in older cats. NOrmal for a cat is 170 and he was 280! The poor kitty had blown out blood vessels in one eye! Fortunately, he did not suffer kidney damage and the medicine helped immediately so he is much better. Sita also had a limp similar to the one that she had surgery for three years ago when she had strained ligaments in one leg. Now it is in the other one and no way is surgery going to be done on a 15 1/2-year-old dog. The veterinarian found a pain medication that helps immensely so my Furr babies are doing OK now! Sita just doesn’t understand why she cannot go out to a restaurant every day so I have been taking her through the drive-through at Starbucks where she gets her pup cup!

In the middle of this pandemic, I would like to share some great personal news. Many of you know I have been fighting cancer since 2010. There were no more chemo’s to help my rare form and we were waiting for a new one to come out. It was approved by the FDA and came out Friday! But the better news is I am in remission and do not need it right now! It is there if and when I do! My wonderful oncologist, Dr. Shruti Trehan, has been beside me the entire time. Neither of us knows why I am still alive, but we agree that faith, family, and friends present a fantastic support group. Thank you ALL for your wonderful support!

I am also taking this time to edit my next book which I swear will be my last, because a book is a lot of work. It is one I desperately want to finish, since my friends say I am the only one who can., It is titled “Do you Hear my Voice” and is about growing up hard of hearing, becoming profoundly deaf and my wonderful experiences with the hard of hearing and deaf community. There have been an incredible number of changes since the 1950s and 1960s. The book is dedicated to my wonderful sister, Susan Moellering, who has helped me with my hearing loss cine I was a little girl and became a speech pathologist. She remembers me saying they were my only friends growing up! The book is emotional for me and editing is hard, but I keep working on it and will keep all of you posted. Thank you all for your support, love, and prayers! Stay safe and well!
